I LOVE old mares. In fact, when Mike and I started out, we knew we couldn't afford incredible young mares, so we purchased the best older mares we could afford. It paid off big for us. We still had the fine quality we wanted, just with a little more experience than most people prefer. I've actually come to prefer these lovely old ladies because these old girls know what to do, and a lot of the guess work has been taken out of what they will produce. These are some of the finest producers the Miniature Horse industry has known. Most are World Champion producers who are enjoying their forever home here at Stars. Don't get me wrong, these girls aren't in complete retirement. In fact, some of them are still producing my best babies. They are NOT for sale, but we are proud of them and like to show them off! |
